Hong Kong
From Hong Kong with love,
Hong Kong easily makes my top 5 favorite places I’ve ever been. It’s so different than anywhere I’ve been before and I’m so lucky to have had the chance to go! Keep reading to find out about my top recommendations when visiting Hong Kong!
Things to Do
24hr Suit | Hong Kong is famous for creating suits in a very short amount of time. There are about a million different places you can get a suit made, but I chose to go to Sam’s Tailor. Sam’s Tailor is a very well known shop where US Presidents, and celebrities have gone to get suits made in the past, so I felt confident I was going to right place!
First things first, you go in and are immediately greeted with smiling faces ready to assist you in designing your custom suit. They hand you books filled with material swatches, buttons, style photos and more! After you decide on all of the specifics, they take your measurements and tell you to come back in a couple of hours.
That afternoon, I returned to the shop to try on my jacket and skirt half way done. It was probably my favorite part of the whole process because after trying it on I got to suggest different cuts, sleeve length, button placement, collar type, and more! (I am a little picky but they were happy to make any adjustments and I thought it was so fun to have that detailed of input!)
I came back 2 days later to pick up my jacket and skirt, and they were perfect! It was such an incredible experience to create my own custom suit and something I wouldn’t trade for the world!
Tian Tan Buddha | located on Lantau Island which is close to Hong Kong Island. To get to the Tian Tan Buddha, you have to take a bus (or car) to the cable car which then takes you up the mountain. Side note, the cable car was out of this world, I have no idea how high up we were but it felt like being on an amusement ride because it was so incredible and thrilling.
Once you get to the top of the mountain there is a little town filled with shops, places to eat, and home of the Tian Tan Buddah. But, the journey isn’t over there, to get to the top you have to commence your journey of 268 steps and every single one is 100% worth it! 10/10 experience.
Victoria Peak | Located on Hong Kong Island, it is the highest view of the city that you can get! It is also one of the most amazing views that I’ve ever seen. From the top you can see most of the skyscrapers on Kowloon and Hong Kong Island which is actually twice the amount than NYC! To get to the top you have to take a tram, (I suggest going early in the morning because the lines will get insane)! Once you reach the viewing center you’ll take what feels like 20 escalators to the top to see one of the most breathtaking views in Hong Kong!
