Things to do

Boat tour of the Na Pali Cliffs Seriously one of the coolest things I’ve done in my entire life! I did a ton of research before we went to Kauai on all of the different boat tours you can take, and I can say without a doubt that we picked the best one.

There are 3 types of boats that do the tours, the first being large catamarans (best for families with small children) they are unable to go inside of the small sea caves but you can still get a great view of the cliffs without experiencing the rough waters. The second is SUPER tiny boats that fit a small amount of people, you sit on the sides and pray you don’t fall off (the best option if you are looking for a true adventure). Finally the kind we chose, It was a typical lake boat that fit about 5 people. They are small enough to go in the caves but big enough so you don’t feel like you may go overboard. I would suggest this option for anyone looking to get great pictures and still see everything the Na Pali Cliffs have to offer!

We went with a company called Na Pali Experience, our driver was very experienced navigating the small caves and rough ocean, but I felt totally safe the whole time!

There is also above an 80% chance you will see dolphins at all times of the day, we went during the least likely time and saw a whole pod! We also got so close that I could almost touch them and they love swimming along with the boats! Truly a dream for me.

Wailua Falls I have seen quite a few waterfalls in my day and this one is definitely one of my favorites! You can get to the waterfall by hiking or driving (if you hike you will see it from the bottom and be able to swim in the water.) If you decide to drive you will be able to see it from the top and it is a piece of cake to get to!

Hanalei is one of the most popular places to go when visiting Kauai and it’s no surprise why! There are a ton of cute stores, places to get shave ice, and a beautiful beach.

Things to eat

Shave Ice If you are like me then you probably thought that snow cones and shave ice are the same things right? So wrong. The difference between shave ice and snow cones is, you guessed it, the ice is shaved instead of crushed so it is so much easier to eat and just tastes better.

Loco Moco is a popular Hawaiian food that normally consists of rice, hamburger, fried egg, and gravy. The one in top right photo is a fancy version which consisted of risotto, steak, egg, and no gravy!

Porky’s is a very popular food trunk on the island that is typically located on the east side. They are known for making hot dogs and adding kalua pork on top! When we went I got a grilled cheese with kalua pork and bbq sauce. 10/10 would recommend!
